C-16-105 - Basis for Promoting Radon Reduction (CERTI-314 / NRPP 138)
These video based presentations were presented by the nation's leading experts on radon health risk, mitigation techniques, as well as legal aspects and social marketing strategies. The completeness of this program delivered jointly by NEHA and the US EPA, makes it applicable to environmental health professionals, building officials, architects, builders, and radon professionals. There is approximately 16 hours of coursework, including audio, video, publications, and quizzes that are taken as you progress through the course (not timed and may be taken unlimited times). There is no time limit for taking the course, and even after completion you continue to have access to the course in order to refer back to resources. CERTI students also have access to business tools such as sample contracts, and warranties. We are also available by phone during and after the course for any questions concerning the course or radon situations you come across on the job. |

Judith said: Setting aside the inarticulate speech of two presenters, there were several who gave conflicting answers. Specfiically, Topic 8. Question 5 and question 8. The presenter SPECIFICALLY stated that air transfer for living space (he used the living room as an example) WAS NOT acceptable. However, the answer was true. Second, question 8. The correct answer according to the scoring was "2-3" times higher. The presenter, however, showed a slide that specifically said "2 - 5" times higher. Test 10. The presenter gave both buying AND selling as times of heightened radon awareness - not specifically separating one from the other. Since I am also a real estate agent, I see more buyers concerned than sellers. , simply because the sellers don't want to have to pay for any additional repairs. Hence, my answer buyers was correct, although both were given.

David said:The course was very informing and entertaining. Did not care for the Section 10 presenter and found the Green Campaign to be rather 'campy'.

David said:Robert DwyerThe industry in my opinion has been struggling to convince the public (and me also) as to relevance and dangers related to radon. My stance has been the lack of research and tangible data to support any of the assertions but realistically it could take several decades to gather enough data to quantitatively prove this. The radiations speak volumes as to the harmful potentials but real clinical proof is lacking. No one's fault just the time it has been in the public eye. Everything is a process and this is no different. The most important presenter was far and away Dr Field since he was delving into and trying to solve the inherent weaknesses(of proof) by doing research and trying to PROVE the dangers of exposure to radon and the RDP's. Hats off to Dr Field. Doug Kladder was solid as usual and his knowledge and experience with mitigation is unparalleled.
