Description

Interpreting radon measurements and/or mitigating buildings with radon concerns is not always as easy we would like them to be.  Experienced radon professionals from both sides of the profession occasionally run across a situation that doesn’t necessarily fit the simple diurnal cycles that affect stack effect or houses that don’t adhere to the simple mitigation diagrams we often see in texts.

This course explores techniques for going a little deeper in interpreting measurements as well as how to mitigate those tough houses with inaccessible crawlspaces, buried return ducts, and other crazy construction practices that make our lives interesting.  We delve into these topics using real life case studies that have happy endings.  These are more than a series of Fractured Fairy Tales.  We explore a process for assessing unique situations you can use in the future.  This course is designed for both the seasoned professional who has seen a thing or two and the novice who will eventually encounter these types of situations.

The course is comprised of an 8 hour classroom session at the Region 8 Conference and a subsequent online resources and quizzes -  the combination of which provides the student with a total of 16 hours of Category I CE credits for renewing either a measurement of mitigation NRPP credential.

Registered students who have a gnarly situation with a happy ending are encouraged to submit their case studies to dkladder@certi.us for inclusion in the follow-up online portion of the course and receive the coveted designation as a “gnarly radon person.”
