Description
Conceptual Site Models (CSMs) synthesize relevant information about potentially contaminated sites, accounting for contaminant sources, transportation mechanisms and environmental receptors. Importantly, the CSM establishes the dynamic relationship between these components, thereby providing a working theory of how the chemical and physical characteristics of your site can result in exposure to environmental risk factors. This understanding of the system is key to developing sampling or remediation schemes, and communicating these interpretations to a wider audience including regulatory agencies and public stakeholders. In this module, AVIP presents both general CSM concepts, as well as considerations that are unique to vapor intrusion sites. Participants will learn about CSM input components, formatting styles, considerations for use, and the importance of these tools in environmental practice.
