Radon services and certifications are regulated in the state of Iowa. If you intend to conduct your radon business here it is recommended that you contact the state radon contact to make sure you are complying with the state requirements. Details are below.

To become certified as a radon measurement specialist and/or credentialed as a radon mitigation specialist in Iowa, you will need to complete the respective NRPP or NRSB approved initial training course and then their exam. However, if you are looking to be certified in mitigation ONLY, you will just need to take the mitigation exam after taking both the initial measurement and mitigation courses.
Other requirements for certification/credentialing include 2 years of relevant work experience or post secondary education or combination of for radon measurement specialist certification and 3 years for mitigation specialist credentialing, only 2 years of post-secondary education can be credited for the 3 year experience requirement.

Eight hours of continuing education are required to be completed every 2 years for each certification credential so if you hold both a measurement certification and mitigation credential you will need to complete16 hours of continuing education.
