The state of South Carolina does not require certification for performing radon services.
The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) Radon Program’s mission is to educate about radon and to assist citizens in testing their homes for radon. The Radon Program (www.scdhec.gov/radon) directs citizens to the National Radon Proficiency Program (NRPP) and/or the National Radon Safety Board (NRSB) to find nationally-certified radon professionals, and also provides a link to the current voluntary consensus standards of practice. Individuals who become certified in radon measurement or mitigation may notify the DHEC Radon Program (1-800-768-0362, radon@dhec.sc.gov).
